The Asian Public Real Estate Association (APREA) was established in July 2005 to promote, develop and represent the Asia Pacific listed (publicly-traded) real estate sector. APREA aims to create a market based on international best-practice standards that will facilitate local, regional and international investment in the sector. This includes the development of a robust reporting and corporate governance structure to promote investor confidence.
APREA is a non-profit, non-aligned industry association. It has similar objectives to the equivalent associations in the US (NAREIT) and Europe (EPRA) and works very closely with those organisations and national organisations such as ARES (Japan) and the Property Council of Australia. It has chapters in Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore and plans the creation of further chapters during 2008.
